"Effective client communications, creative problem solving, a grasp of the big picture, and courage under fire are all part of being a great family law attorney. Helping real people get through bad times endows a lawyer with a sense of purpose you don’t get from other areas of the law."
Jeremy Anderson is a Dallas divorce lawyer who comes to Connatser Family Law with extensive trial experience. He handles a wide range of civil and criminal matters as well as family law.
“Family lawyers deal with every aspect of the legal practice,” says founding member Aubrey Connatser. “Jeremy has worked in many areas of the law, and that greatly benefits our clients.”
Jeremy began to develop his diverse practice at the international law firm of Hunton & Williams, LLP. He worked in the capital finance and real estate practice group, combining his strong work ethic and keen analytical skills. Furthermore, he later changed his practice from transactional to litigation. He joined the complex commercial litigation practice group at Hunton. “I was incredibly lucky to be groomed by some of the best trial lawyers in the country right here in the Dallas office.”
He then became a partner in the boutique law firm of Anderson Beakley, PLLC. There he gained extensive trial experience in family law, criminal defense (trying cases such as murder, drug trafficking, assault, and DWI), and a broad range of commercial litigation including securities and fiduciary duty disputes as well as partnership disputes. Jeremy was recognized in 2016, 2017 and 2018 as Top 40 Under 40 by The National Trial Lawyers, a peer rated professional organization that recognizes America’s top young trial attorneys.
“After eight years of family law practice at Anderson Beakley,” Jeremy says, “I handled a large dose of high conflict child custody disputes and litigated to verdict or settlement many complex divorces. Also, all of the family law cases I handled were referred to me by former clients or other attorneys, and as a result I grew to really love that practice area.”
Jeremy recognizes the importance of providing superior “big firm” know-how along with the devotion and services of a boutique firm. He is passionate about ensuring that his clients receive representation precisely tailored to their needs. His strategy for each case is unique. He approaches every client and case with the same personal attention and dedication. When asked how he determines how to pursue a matter in family court, Jeremy says, “I start with the big picture. What needs to happen to accomplish the client’s goals? Is it a complex property divorce, high conflict custody matter, or some combination of those variables. My approach is tailored with my client’s interests and the best interest of the children in mind, and I am relentless in that pursuit.”
He is admitted to practice before the Federal District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Eastern & Western Districts of Texas, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Texas. He is a member of the Dallas Bar Association.
Jeremy attended the University of Texas at Austin on a baseball scholarship. He earned a bachelor of science degree with a focus in biomechanics (with honors). He earned his juris doctor, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, graduating a year early.
Just days after taking the bar exam and with the blessing of his law firm, Jeremy appeared as a contestant on ABC Television’s The Bachelorette. He didn’t win but made it to the finals, ending up third out of 25 bachelors.
Jeremy is married with three boys and one girl. When not working, Jeremy is usually coaching little league baseball, running, fishing or enjoying being a dad.
